Roles and Responsibilities – The duties and responsibilities of this position are mentioned below.

Write language specification documents (TN models, ITN models, profanity lists, etc.)
Analyze test results and recommend repairs.

Assess the quality of the existing corpus (transcription, voice recording, phonetic dictionary, pronunciation vocabulary, etc.)

Create text normalization (TN) and inverse text normalization (ITN) rules on certain tools.

Create/Select Testers for Voice Services (STT/TTS) and Modules: Testers can include human language scripts, voice recordings, TN/ITN test cases, and more.

The personal interview will be in person or by phone.

Experience Required – For this position, no prior experience is required.

TransPerfect’s DataForce is looking for Idiom (India) English speaking talents with Linguistics and Phonetic experience to join us as an English (India) expert.

The goal of the role is to collaborate in creating cutting-edge technologies using techniques like Speech to Text, Text to Speech, etc., to improve the Indian language interpretation algorithms.

Role Summary

The language specialist will be responsible for transcribing, annotating and verifying voice audio, converting word-by-word audio into text, verifying transcriptions/audio captions, and performing other related tasks. You will:

Write language specification documents (TN patterns, ITN patterns, profanity lists, etc.)

Create Text Normalization (TN) and Inverse Text Normalization (ITN) rules on given tools

Create/select test sets for Speech Services (STT/TTS) and modules: Test sets may include human language scripts, voice recordings, TN/ITN test cases, etc. Analyze test results and propose corrections

Assess quality of existent corpora (Transcriptions, voice recording, transliteration dictionaries, pronunciation lexicons, etc.)

Job requirements

Idiomatic fluency in written and spoken English (India)

Experience with Phonetics (IPA), Transcription or Annotation tasks

Versed in Text Transliteration and verification of transliteration mappings

Ability to summarize and communicate the task outputs/analyses clearly and succinctly over email and call

Preferred Role Requirements

Education

Preferred Bachelor`s or Master’s degree in English Literature

Additional Skillsets

Secondary language knowledge in Hindi or Tamil

Knowledge of 3rd Indian language is desirable

Knowledge of regular expressions (RegEx) and how to use them

Some experience building rules and algorithms to be relevant for TN/ITN rules and phone sequence mappings

Knowledge of language accents in various dialects for your language
