At present, the services provided by the Tamil Nadu government are mostly provided through the internet. Some of these services, including revenue certificates, can be availed by people directly by registering their login ID on the citizen portal. All other services are provided through e-service centers.
What are e-service centers called?
E-Service Centers are commonly called by different names like Private E-Service Center, People’s Computer Center, Computer Center, E-Service Center, Public E-Service Center, Government E-Service Center, Government Public E-Service Center. But the centers having e-service IDs which can be provided by Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency are known as Government Public e-Service Centers.
What are the qualifications required to start an e-service center?
A little computer knowledge and knowledge of Tamil and English typing is enough to run an e-service center. Sufficient space should be provided. If you have passion and skill you can perform well and earn good income.
What are the procedures for starting an e-service center?
Following are the steps to start e-service centers. Read fully.
- First purchase the following equipment required to start an e-service center.
Computer
Scanner
Printer
Biometric tool
Web camera
Internet facility

- It is not necessary to obtain any ID for providing many services like chitta/patta, animal proof etc. They can be provided at their center first.
- Apply and obtain ID from respective service providers to provide additional services at their center. For example Digital Service ID, e-Service ID, e-District ID, etc. Generally, services provided by Central Government will be provided through Digital Seva ID and services provided by State Governments will be provided through e-Service ID.
- Individual can get e-Service ID of e-governance agency in two ways.
- One, e-Service ID of E-Governance Agency can be obtained directly through the cable TV company on contractual basis. To get this ID contact the District Cable TV Company.
- Two, Village Entrepreneurs can register and get Digital Seva ID through CSC e-Governance or CSCSPV which is run by Central Government. E-Service ID of E-Governance Agency will be provided to village entrepreneurs who perform well through this company. For the related information one can contact the District Coordinators of this organization (their contact numbers are given on the website itself) or after applying for Digital Seva ID they will come to the center for field inspection.
How long does it take to get TNeGA e-Service ID?
It will take at least six months to get the above mentioned IDs. So patience is essential. Duration varies by service center agents. To get CSCSPV ID, first get Digital Seva ID and perform well. Only then you will be recommended. To get a Cable TV ID, a deposit must be paid along with the application. Nominated centers will be field inspected and eligible centers will be given ID.
Do I have to pay a fee to get TNeGA e-Service ID?
No. No fee is required to get TNeGA e-Service ID. The ID can be obtained for free. To get Cable TV ID only, certain deposit is required. The deposit will be refunded after the contract is completed.
Is TNeGA e-Service ID mandatory to provide all e-Services?
No. To provide services like electricity bill payment, bond registration services, ticket booking etc… you can register and get ID on the respective website. There is no need to get any ID to provide many services like chitta/patta, animal proof etc. Having a Digital Seva ID can provide more than hundred services to the public, including many central government schemes.
