Eligibility Criteria for CSBO at HQ Southern Command:
Education Qualification:
- For Civilian Switch Board Operator (CSBO) position –
a) Mandatory:
(i) Must have passed Matriculation or an equivalent exam from a recognized Board.
(ii) Proficient in handling Private Branch Exchange (PBX) board. (Experience Certificate must be submitted)
b) Preferred:
Fluent in spoken English and Hindi.
Age Limit as on 07.04.2023:
- CSBO (Civilian Switch Board Operator) – Age should be between 18 to 25 years. However, relaxation in the upper age limit will be provided to candidates belonging to SC/ST (5 years), OBC (3 years), Persons with Disabilities (10 years), and Ex-Servicemen as per the rules of the Government of India. Candidates are advised to refer to the official notification of HQ Southern Command 2023 for more details on age relaxation.
Salary Details:
- CSBO (Civilian Switch Board Operator) – The salary offered for this post is Rs. 21,700/- per month along with allowances (Level-3, Cell-1) as per the new pay matrix of 7th CPC.
HQ Southern Command CSBO Selection Process 2023:
(a) Written Test – The written test will have four parts: Part-I General Intelligence & Reasoning (Objective Multiple Choice Type), Part – II General Awareness (Objective Multiple Choice Type), Part – III General English (Objective Multiple Choice Type), and Part – IV Numerical Aptitude (Objective Multiple Choice Type). The question paper will be bilingual, i.e. in English and Hindi. However, the question of English Language subject will be in English only. Additional/extra/higher qualifications will not be given any weightage for recruitment.
(b) Skill Test – The skill test will be conducted to assess the candidate’s proficiency in handling exchange operations. This test will be conducted for qualifying purposes only. Selection will be made strictly based on merit in the written test, subject to the candidate qualifying in the skill test.
(c) If the number of applications received is large, and it is not feasible to arrange the examination for all the candidates, the selection board reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates based on the percentage of marks obtained in the prescribed minimum essential qualification, i.e. Matric or equivalent.

Candidates interested in the CSBO post must follow the below-mentioned steps to apply:
- Fill the application form in all respects and attach all the necessary documents duly attested. Forward the application to ‘The Officer-in-Charge, Southern Command Signal Regiment, Pune (Maharashtra), PIN-411001’ by post/speed post/registered post only in an envelope.
- The envelope must have “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF CSBO GRADE-II” written on the top in capital letters. Reserved category candidates must also mention their category on the left-hand corner of the envelope. Applications submitted by hand will not be entertained.
- Candidates must enclose the following supporting documents: Self-attested Birth Certificate (Matriculation Certificate/ Mark Sheet can be produced in lieu), Educational Certificate (Matriculation Passing Certificate and Marksheet), Experience Certificate, Residential Certificate, Domicile Certificate, Aadhar Card, Certificate in the prescribed format to support their claim of belonging to the reserved category, and for Ex-servicemen category, a copy of the discharge certificate.
- Candidates who are already serving as Government servants must provide a No Objection Certificate from their present employer.
- Two self-addressed envelopes (minimum 12 x 24 cms) with postage stamps of Rs 25/- on each envelope must be affixed for intimation of the written test. Applications without these envelopes will not be accepted.
