CSIR-IICT Project Associate Eligibility Criteria:
Education Qualification:
- For the position of Project Associate-II or Project Associate-I:
Project Associate-II: Candidates must hold a B.Pharmacy degree and have at least two years of experience in dispensing medicines.
Project Associate-I: Candidates must hold a B.Pharmacy degree.
Desirable Qualification: For Project Associate-I, it is desirable to have two years of experience in dispensing medicines.
- For the position of Project Associate-II:
Candidates must hold a B.Tech degree in Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Safety, or Fire Engineering and have at least two years of experience in Industry, Research Laboratories, Construction, Academic Institutions, etc.
Desirable Qualification: Experience in the Safety Department is preferred but not compulsory.
- For the position of Project Associate-II:
Candidates must have an MSc degree in Chemistry or a B.Tech degree in Chemical Engineering/Computer Science and have at least two years of experience in either:
i) Application of different quantum mechanical methods, or ii) Synthesis and characterization of catalytic materials, or iii) Knowledge in the application of AI/ML methods
Desirable Qualification: M.Tech in Chemical Engineering/Computer Science
- For the position of Project Associate-I:
Candidates must have an MSc degree in Organic Chemistry.
Desirable Qualification: One year of R&D experience.
- For the position of Project Associate-I:
Candidates must have an MSc/B.Tech degree in Biological Sciences (Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Microbiology) or an M.Pharm degree in Pharmacology.
Desirable Qualification: M.Tech in Biological Sciences (Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Microbiology) and hands-on research experience in Cell Biology handling cell lines or Molecular Biology including cloning, protein expression, protein purification, protein folding, etc. is highly desirable.
- For the position of Project Assistant:
Candidates must hold a B.Sc degree in Chemistry.
Desirable Qualification: Freshers with experience in MS Office will be preferred.
- For the position of Technician:
Candidates must have a Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
Desirable Qualification: Two years of hands-on experience in Electrical Repair & Maintenance of Laboratory or similar building experience, attending 24×7 substation/DG sets shift duties, preparing electrical estimates, etc., is preferable.
- For the position of Scientific Administrative Assistant:
Candidates must be graduates in any discipline.
Desirable Qualification: Proficiency in computers.
As of April 25th, 2023, the age limit for various positions at CSIR-IICT is as follows:
- Project Associate-II or Project Associate-I – 35 years

- Scientific Administrative Assistant – 50 years
Candidates belonging to SC/ST category can avail a relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit. OBC candidates can avail a relaxation of 3 years, while persons with disabilities (PWDs) can avail a relaxation of up to 10 years. For SC/ST PWDs, the relaxation is up to 15 years, and for OBC PWDs, it is up to 13 years. The upper age limit relaxation for Ex-Servicemen is as per the rules of the Government of India. Candidates can refer to the official notification of CSIR-IICT for more information.
The salary details for various positions are as follows:
- Project Associate-II or Project Associate-I – Project Associate-II: Rs. 28,000+HRA; Project Associate-I: Rs. 25,000+HRA
- Project Associate-II – Rs. 28,000+HRA
- Project Associate-II – Rs. 28,000+HRA
- Project Associate-I – Rs. 31,000+HRA for those who have qualified in the National Eligibility tests-CSIR-UGC-NET or GATE, or have been selected through a national level examination conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies and institutions. For others, the salary is Rs. 25,000+HRA.
- Project Associate-I – Rs. 25,000+HRA
- Project Assistant – Rs. 20,000+HRA
- Technician – Rs. 20,000+HRA
- Scientific Administrative Assistant – Rs. 18,000+HRA
The selection process for the CSIR – IICT Project Associate position in 2023 will likely follow the subsequent steps:
