Eligibility Criteria for Group ‘B’ and ‘C’ Positions at FTII:
- Cameraman (Electronic & Film):
Essential: Candidates should have a Diploma in Cinematography or an equivalent qualification from FTII, or a degree from a recognized university. They should have at least two years of experience in Motion Picture Photography in a TV/Film organization, with evidence of professional work.
- Graphic & Visual Assistant:
Essential: Candidates should have a degree/diploma in Fine Arts from a recognized university or institution or an equivalent qualification. They should have at least 2 years of experience in Graphics/Animation in a Film/TV Graphics/Training organization or institution.
Desirable: Candidates should possess a certificate of completion of a course conducted by FTII or an equivalent qualification.
- Film Editor:
Essential: Candidates should have a Diploma in Editing or an equivalent qualification from FTII. They should have at least 3 years of experience as a Film Editor in an organization or institution connected with film editing/training.
- Make-up Artist:
Essential: Candidates should have passed Matriculation or an equivalent examination. They should have at least 5 years of professional experience as a make-up man in an organization or institution connected with Film/TV, Production or Theatre Production.
- Laboratory Assistant (Grade-I):
Essential: Candidates should have a degree in Chemistry from a recognized university. They should have at least 3 years of experience in a laboratory as an analytical chemist.
Desirable: Candidates should have good knowledge of sensitometry.
- Research Assistant (Technical):
Essential: Candidates should have a Diploma in Engineering (Electrical) from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification. They should have at least 2 years of experience in the development of electronic circuits.
Desirable: Candidates should have experience in a research organization.
- Assistant Security Officer:
Essential: Candidates should have passed Minimum S.S.C. or an equivalent examination. They should have served not below the rank of JCO or equivalent rank for not less than 5 years, or be an Ex-Police Officer in the rank not below P.S.I.
The following in-service categories of FTII will also be eligible to apply for the post in open selection: Caretaker/Upper Division Clerk with at least 5 years of regular service in that grade, and Senior Stenographer/Accountant with 3 years of regular service in that grade. Essential Educational Qualifications prescribed will not apply to such candidates.
- Production Assistant:
Essential: Candidates should have a Diploma in Direction from FTII or an equivalent qualification, or a Diploma in Production from the National School of Drama or its equivalent, or a degree from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification. They should have at least 2 years of experience in Film/TV Production in an organization or institution connected with Film/TV Production/Training or Matriculation with at least 5 years of experience as a Unit Manager or Production Assistant in a film studio or film production organization or TV studio or production unit of repute.
Note: The job requires the incumbent to camp in villages often.
- Assistant Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical):
Essential: Candidates should have a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institute or an equivalent qualification. They should have at least two years of experience in a mechanical workshop for the maintenance and repair of motion picture studio equipment and machinery in a film studio or film production organization manufacturing or marketing motion picture equipment.
- Assistant Maintenance Engineer (Electrical):
Essential: Candidates should have a Diploma in Cinema (Sound Recording and Sound Engineering) from FTII or an equivalent qualification or a degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university or institute. They should have at least two years
- Requirements for Sound Recordist:
(a) Essential: Must have a diploma in Sound Recording and Sound Engineering from FTII or an equivalent institution. Should also possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in sound recording with an organization or institution connected with sound recording/training.
OR
Must have a diploma in Telecommunication Engineering and at least 2 years of professional experience in sound recording with an organization or institution connected with sound recording/training.
- Requirements for Laboratory Technician:
(a) Essential: Must have completed matriculation or its equivalent from a recognized university or board. Should also possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in film processing work in a Motion Picture Film Processing Laboratory of repute, handling work of threading and operating processing machines, and compounding chemicals.
(b) Desirable: Diploma in film processing from a recognized institute.
- Requirements for Demonstrator (Sound Recording):
(a) Essential: Must have a diploma in Sound Recording & Sound Engineering from a recognized institute, preferably from the Film & TV Institute of India or an equivalent institution.
(b) Desirable: One year of experience in sound recording either in an independent capacity or at the first assistant level, and one year of experience in the repair, servicing, and maintenance of electrical or electronic equipment in a Film Studio, Radio Manufacturing, or Marketing organization of repute.
- Requirements for Stenographer:
(a) Essential: Must have passed 12th class or its equivalent from a recognized university or board.
Skill test norms:
Dictation: 10 minutes @ 80 wpm
Transcription: 50 minutes (English) & 65 minutes (Hindi) (on computer only)
(b) Desirable: Previous experience as a stenographer in a commercial organization or a government office.
- Requirements for Upper Division Clerk:
(a) Essential: Must have a degree from a recognized university or equivalent.
- Requirements for Mechanic:
(a) Essential: Must have completed matriculation or its equivalent from a recognized university or board. Must hold a certificate of competency or a diploma from the I.T.I. or an equivalent institution as a Fitter Mechanic. Should also possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance and repair of motion picture laboratory equipment.
(b) Desirable: Diploma in film processing from a recognized institute.
OR
(a) Essential: Must have completed matriculation or its equivalent from a recognized university or board. Must possess a diploma from a recognized institute in Radio Engineering or have 3 years of experience as a skilled worker in a Radio Manufacturing Plant or amplifier manufacturing organization of repute.
(b) Desirable: Knowledge of mechanical workshop operations.
OR
(a) Essential: Must hold a certificate of competency or a diploma or a trade certificate from I.T.I. or a recognized polytechnic or institute as a Wire Mechanic or Fitter Mechanic. Should also possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in a large Engineering concern, TV/Film Studio in handling repairs or maintenance of mechanical & electrical equipment, or experience of lathe work or carpentry work or electrical wiring and soldering or repair and maintenance of air‐conditioning plant.
- Requirements for Hindi Typist Clerk:
(a) Essential: Must have completed matriculation or its equivalent from a recognized university or board. Should have knowledge of Hindi type‐writing at a minimum speed of 25 w.p.m.
(b) Desirable: Clerical experience in a government office or commercial office of repute. Knowledge of English type‐writing.
- Requirements for Carpenter:
(a) Essential: Must have completed matriculation or its equivalent from a recognized university or board. Should have the ability to read and write Hindi and/or English with ease. Should also possess a minimum of 2 years of experience
- Driver:
(a) Required qualifications: Must have passed Matriculation or equivalent from a recognized University or Board. Should possess a driving license for both motor cars and heavy-duty vehicles issued by the Competent Authority. Must have a good understanding of motor mechanism. Minimum of three years of experience in driving heavy-duty vehicles in a reputed private organization or large firm. Ability to read and write Hindi and English fluently. Familiarity with the areas in and around Pune, Bombay, and their suburbs.
(b) Desired qualifications: Excellent knowledge of motor vehicle repairs and maintenance of various types.
- Electrician:
(a) Required qualifications: Must have passed Matriculation or equivalent from a recognized University or Board. Should possess a wireman’s license from the Competent Authority. Minimum of two years of experience as an Electrician in a film studio or an Industrial Undertaking of repute.
- Painter:
(a) Required qualifications: Must have passed Matriculation or equivalent from a recognized University or Board. Should have the ability to read and write Hindi and/or English. Minimum of five years of experience in background screen painting, special effects, handspray painting, lettering in all major Indian languages as well as English, stencil drawing and cutting for the set in a film studio or a reputed firm of interior decorators.
- Technician:
(a) Required qualifications: Must have passed Matriculation or equivalent. Should possess an I.T.I. Certificate in Electric Wiring or a wireman’s license issued by the Competent Authority. Minimum of two years of experience as an Electrician in a film studio or an Industrial Undertaking of repute.
(b) Desired qualifications: Experience of instrumentation work.
- Multi-Tasking Staff (Assistant Carpenter):
(a) Required qualifications: Must have passed Matriculation or equivalent from a recognized University or Board. Minimum of two years of experience as a Carpenter or Assistant Carpenter in the settings department of a film studio or a furniture manufacturing concern of repute.
(b) Desired qualifications: Ability to read and write Hindi and/or English fluently.
- Multi-Tasking Staff (Laboratory Attendant):
(a) Required qualifications: Must have passed Matriculation or equivalent from a recognized University or Board. Should have worked as an Attendant in a Laboratory. Working knowledge of Hindi and/or English.
- Multi-Tasking Staff (Plumber):
(a) Required qualifications: Must have passed Matriculation or equivalent from a recognized University or Board and be able to read and write Hindi, Marathi, or English.
(b) Desired qualifications: Must have at least one year of experience in plumbing work, including pipe fitting, cutting, bending, threading, and jointing, and fixing of pipes for water supply. Practical knowledge of trenching and masonry work of all sorts, jointing of stone ware pipes, and proper connection for brick and tile, including restoration of road surface. Practical knowledge of pumping of water of storage tanks and handling various types of valves used in water supply.
- Multi-Tasking Staff (Cleaner):
(a) Required qualifications: Must have passed Matriculation or equivalent from a recognized University or Board. Should have at least one year of experience as a Cleaner in a reputed transport organization owning a large fleet of motor vehicles.
- Multi-Tasking Staff (Farash):
(a) Required qualifications: Must have passed Matriculation or equivalent from a recognized University or Board. Should have experience of working as a Farash in a Government Office, Local Body, or a reputed Commercial Organization.
- Multi-Tasking Staff (Peon):
(a) Required qualifications: Must have passed Matriculation or equivalent from a recognized University or Board.
- Job Description for Multi-Tasking Staff (Cook cum Chowkidar):
(a) Requirements:
The candidate must have passed Matriculation or its equivalent from a recognized University or Board.
The candidate should have a minimum of 6 months of experience as a Watchman/Security Guard in a Government Office, Military Establishment, Local Body, or a well-known Commercial Organization. Preference will be given to ex-army personnel.
Additionally, the candidate must have at least 6 months of experience in cooking at a Hostel or guest house under Government, Military Establishment, Local Body, or a Commercial Organisation of repute. A person with a Diploma/Certificate in cooking will be given preference.
(b) Desirable Skills:
The candidate should be able to read and write Hindi and/or English.
(c) Duties:
The appointed person will be responsible for cooking for two guests and visitors who stay at the TV Hostel. Additionally, the person will have to attend to duties as Chowkidar at the TV Hostel, as per the schedule of timings fixed by the Security Officer, when he has no cooking assignment.
- Job Description for Studio Assistant:
(a) Requirements:
The candidate must have passed Matriculation or its equivalent from a recognized University or Board.
(b) Desirable Skills:
The candidate should have experience in assisting with floor work connected with the erection of sets and arrangement of lights for Film/ TV/ Theatre programs.

The upper age limit is relaxed for candidates belonging to certain categories. FTII Group ‘B’ & ‘C’ Selection Process 2023: FTII will select candidates for Group ‘B’ and ‘C’ positions through a written test followed by a skill test.
Application Fee/Exam Fee for FTII Group ‘B’ & ‘C’:
- The application fee for each post is Rs. 1,000/‐.
- Payment must be made online and not through cash, demand draft, postal order, cheque, etc.
- Female candidates, Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), and Ex‐servicemen (ESM) eligible for reservation are exempted from payment of the application fee.
- Male candidates of Gen (UR)/ OBC – NCL/ EWS/ Ex‐servicemen not eligible for reservation must pay the full prescribed fee.
