ICMR-NIMR LDC & DEO Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for the following positions at ICMR-NIMR, candidates must meet the following educational qualifications:
- Project Assistant:
Essential Qualification: A Graduate Degree in Life Science subjects from a recognized university with at least three years of work experience from a recognized institution OR a Master’s degree in Life Science subjects.
Desirable Qualification: Candidates with two-wheelers and a valid driving license, android mobile phones, knowledge of the local language, research/field experience in a recognized organization, computer application knowledge, and experience working in rural/tribal areas will be given preference.
- Project Technician III:
Essential Qualification: A 12th pass in Science subjects AND a two-year diploma in Medical Laboratory Technician OR one year of DMLT plus one year of required experience from a recognized organization OR two years of field/laboratory experience. A graduate in science subjects from a recognized university with one year of work experience in hospital/laboratory/health system/community/fieldwork from a Government Organization or recognized Institution or a Master’s degree in a relevant subject.
Desirable Qualification: Candidates with two-wheelers and a valid driving license, android mobile phones, and knowledge of the local language will be given preference.
- Project Technician I:
Essential Qualification: High School* or equivalent WITH one-year experience in hospital/laboratory/health system/community/fieldwork from a Government Organization or recognized Institution. *Intermediate with science subjects shall be treated as equivalent to 2 years of experience.
Desirable Qualification: Candidates with two-wheelers and a valid driving license, android mobile phones, and knowledge of the local language will be given preference.
- Statistical Assistant:
Essential Qualification: A Graduate Degree in Science subjects with Statistics as one of the subjects at the degree level from a recognized university with at least three years of work experience from a recognized institution OR a Master’s degree in Science with Statistics as one of the subjects.
Desirable Qualification: Experience in research work/field activities in a recognized organization, knowledge of computer applications, and a Diploma in Office Management.
- Data Entry Operator – Grade A:
Essential Qualification: Intermediate or 12th pass from a recognized board. A speed test of not less than 8000 key depressions per hour through a speed test on the computer.
Desirable Qualification: Experience in research work/field activities in a recognized organization, knowledge of computer applications, and a Diploma in Office Management.
- Lower Division Clerk:
Essential Qualification: 12th pass or equivalent from a recognized board. A speed test of not less than 8000 key depression per hour (KDPH) on the computer.
Desirable Qualification: Experience in research work/field activities in a recognized organization, knowledge of computer applications, and a Diploma in Office Management.

The government has made provisions for relaxation in the upper age limit for certain categories of candidates.
Specifically, candidates belonging to SC/ST categories may avail a relaxation of 5 years, while those belonging to OBC categories may avail a relaxation of 3 years.
Persons with Disabilities may avail a relaxation of 10 years, with SC/ST PWD’s eligible for a relaxation of 15 years and OBC PWD’s eligible for a relaxation of 13 years.
Additionally, Ex-Servicemen may also be eligible for relaxation as per the government’s rules. Interested candidates are advised to refer to the official notification from ICMR-NIMR for further information regarding these rules.

The selection process for the ICMR-NIMR LDC & DEO posts in 2023 will involve an interview, which will be held on the same day as the registration and document verification process.
It’s important to note that no candidate will be allowed to enter after the scheduled date and time. In case there are more than 30 candidates for any post, a written examination will be conducted to shortlist candidates for the interview or personal discussion on the same day.
However, the final selection will be based solely on the performance in the interview or personal discussion.
