TNega: Transforming Government Services in Tamil Nadu

The Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency (TNeGA) is a state-level nodal agency that works towards implementing e-Governance initiatives in the state of Tamil Nadu. TNeGA was established in 2006 to improve government services delivery, transparency, and accountability. The agency has been instrumental in introducing several innovative e-Governance projects that have transformed the way government services are delivered in Tamil Nadu. In this article, we will take a closer look at TNeGA and its flagship e-Governance project – TNeGA e-Sevai.

TNeGA’s Objectives

TNeGA has several objectives, including:

  1. To make government services accessible to the citizens of Tamil Nadu in a timely, efficient, and transparent manner.
  2. To promote e-Governance initiatives that improve service delivery and enhance the quality of life of citizens.

  1. TNeGA e-Sevai: The TNeGA e-Sevai is a flagship e-Governance project that has transformed the delivery of government services in Tamil Nadu. The project enables citizens to access government services online, eliminating the need for physical visits to government offices. The TNeGA e-Sevai portal provides a one-stop-shop for over 50 services, including birth certificates, death certificates, marriage certificates, and land records. The project has been a massive success, with over 1.5 crore transactions conducted since its launch.
  2. Arasu E-Sevai Centres: TNeGA has set up Arasu E-Sevai Centres across the state to facilitate the delivery of government services to citizens. These centres provide a range of services, including Aadhaar enrolment, PAN card services, passport services, and utility bill payments. The centres have been a boon for citizens, especially those residing in rural areas, who now have access to government services without having to travel long distances.
  3. Tamil Nadu State Data Centre: TNeGA has set up the Tamil Nadu State Data Centre (TNSDC) to provide a secure, reliable, and robust infrastructure for hosting government applications and data.
