THDCIL, a Schedule “A” Mini Ratna Government Public Sector Undertaking (PSU), is a leading power generator in India.
With a total installed capacity of 1587 MW, THDCIL has commissioned several projects including Tehri Dam & HPP (1000MW), Koteshwar HEP (400MW), Dhukwan Small HEP (24 MW), Patan Wind Power Project (50MW), Dwarka Wind Power Project (63MW), and Kasargod Solar Power Project (50MW).
The company’s equity is shared between NTPC and GoUP, and it was established on 12th July 1988 to operate and maintain the 2400MW Tehri Hydro Power Complex and other hydro projects.
THDCIL has an authorized share capital of Rs.4000Cr and is classified as a Mini Ratna Category-I and Schedule “A” PSU. The company currently operates three hydro power plants and two wind power plants, while one solar project is also operational.
THDCIL is also developing several other projects at different stages of development and implementation, including Tehri PSP (1000 MW), VPHEP (444 MW), Khurja STPP (1320 MW), and UMREPPs (2000 MW).
UMREPPs include 600 MW capacity of Solar Park each at Jhansi and Lalitpur District and 800 MW at Chittarkoot District of UP, which is being developed by TUSCO, a joint venture of THDCIL and UPNEDA. Since the commissioning of Tehri Dam & HPP in 2006-07, THDCIL has consistently remained a profitable company.
