UPSC Engineering Services Examination, 2024 Vacancy Information:

Position & Number of Vacancies:

Recruitment through this examination will be made for Services/Posts in the following categories:

Category I – Civil Engineering.

Category II – Mechanical Engineering.

Category III – Electrical Engineering.

Category IV – Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.

The expected number of vacancies to be filled as a result of this examination is approximately 167, including 5 vacancies for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) (4 vacancies for Locomotor Disability including Leprosy cured, Dwarfism, Acid Attack victims, and Muscular Dystrophy, and 1 vacancy for Multiple Disability). The number of vacancies is subject to change.

Reservations will be provided for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Economically Weaker Section (EWS), and Persons with Benchmark Disability Category, as determined by the Government of India.

Category I – Civil Engineering: Group-A Services/Posts (i) Central Engineering Service (Roads), Group-A (Civil Engineering Posts). (ii) *AEE (Civil) in Border Roads Engineering Service. (iii) Indian Defence Service of Engineers. (iv) AEE (QS&C) in MES Surveyor Cadre. (v) Central Water Engineering (Group ‘A’) Service. (vi) Indian Skill Development Service.

Category II – Mechanical Engineering: Group-A/B Services/Posts (i) AEE in GSI Engineering Service Gr ‘A’. (ii) Indian Defence Service of Engineers. (iii) Indian Naval Armament Service (Mechanical Engineering Posts). (iv) Central Water Engineering (Group ‘A’) Service. (v) Defence Aeronautical Quality Assurance Service/SSO-II (Mechanical).

Category III – Electrical Engineering: Group-A/B Services/Posts (i) Indian Defence Service of Engineers. (ii) Central Power Engineering Service Gr ‘A’ (Electrical Engineering Posts). (iii) Indian Naval Armament Service (Electrical Engineering Posts). (iv) Defence Aeronautical Quality Assurance Service/SSO-II (Electrical). (v) Central Power Engineering Service Gr ‘B’ (Electrical Engineering Posts).

Category IV – Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering: Group-A/B Services/Posts (i) Indian Radio Regulatory Service Gr ‘A’. (ii) Indian Telecommunication Service Gr ‘A’. (iii) Indian Naval Armament Service (Electronics and Telecom Engineering Posts). (iv) Indian Naval Material Management Service (Electronics and Telecom Engineering Posts). (v) Defence Aeronautical Quality Assurance Service/SSO-II (Electronics & Tele). (vi) Junior Telecom Officer Gr ‘B’.

UPSC Engineering Services Examination, 2024 Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualification:

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) Obtained a degree in Engineering from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared as deemed Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956. (b) Passed Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India). (c) Obtained a degree/diploma in Engineering from a foreign University/College/Institution recognized by the Government. (d) Passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India). (e) Passed Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India. (f) Passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London held after November, 1959.

For Indian Naval Armament Service (Electronics Engineering Posts) and Indian Radio Regulatory Service Group ‘A,’ alternative qualifications are accepted.

Age Limit:

Candidates must be between 21 and 30 years of age as of January 1, 2024. Age relaxations are applicable for certain categories as per government rules.

Application Process:

Candidates, except for Female/SC/ST/PwBD candidates exempt from the fee, are required to pay a fee of Rs. 200/-. Payment can be made through various methods such as remittance at a State Bank of India branch, online payment through Visa/Master/RuPay Credit/Debit Card/UPI, or internet banking.

Important Dates for UPSC Engineering Services Examination, 2024:

• Starting Date for Submission of Application: September 6, 2023.
• Last date for Submission of Application: September 26, 2023.
• Date of Examination: February 18, 2024.

To apply for the UPSC Engineering Services Examination in 2024, candidates must submit their applications online through the official UPSC website between September 6, 2023, and September 26, 2023. No other mode of application will be accepted.
