Eligibility criteria for the position of CMRL Assistant Manager are as follows:
Post Code No. 01 – Deputy General Manager (Civil): The candidate must be a B.E/B.Tech (Civil) graduate from a government recognized Institute/University approved by AICTE/UGC. They must have at least 13 years of post-qualification experience in executing large infrastructure projects, such as major bridges, highways, railways, or metro rail projects, out of which a minimum of 5 years of experience must be exclusively in metro constructions. The candidate should have knowledge and skills in contract management related to large infrastructure projects, FIDIC conditions of contract, quality control and assurance system in civil construction, safety implementation, and program monitoring. Exposure in underground metro structures will be an added advantage.
Post Code No. 02 – Deputy General Manager (Ventilation & Air Conditioning and Tunnel Ventilation System): The candidate must be a B.E/B.Tech (Mechanical/Electrical) graduate from a government recognized Institute/University approved by AICTE/UGC. They must have at least 13 years of post-qualification experience in project management of Tunnel Ventilation System (TVS)/Air Conditioning Systems in large infrastructure projects. The candidate should have experience in design verification, validation of documents, equipment/material technical submittals, factory acceptance testing (FAT), coordination with contractors, management of contractual matters, verification and certification of works, interface management with various stakeholders, method statement review for equipment/materials installation, supervision of equipment installation, pre-commissioning, testing, and commissioning activities of TVS/VAC Systems. They should also have experience in operations and maintenance of TVS/VAC systems.
Post Code No. 03 – Manager/Deputy General Manager (Electrical & Mechanical): The candidate must be a B.E/B.Tech (EEE/ECE/Mech.) graduate from a government recognized University/Institute approved by AICTE/UGC. For the Deputy General Manager level, they should have a minimum of 13 years of post-qualification experience, and for the manager level, they should have a minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience in the field of MEP/E&M. The candidate should have experience in HT/LT Electrical Power Supply Systems, UPS Systems, Earthing Systems, Lightning Arrestor, Fire deduction, Fire Alarm, Fire Protection System, Plumbing Systems, BMS/SCADA Systems of their BIM/Design review, development, interface management, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning in Railway projects/Metro Rail projects, or any large infrastructure project.
For Post Code No. 04 – Manager / Deputy General Manager (Contract Management), candidates must hold a B.E/B.Tech (Civil) degree from a Govt. recognized Institute / University approved by AICTE / UGC. The ideal candidate for the Deputy General Manager level must possess at least 13 years of post-qualification experience in Metro / Railways / Large infrastructure projects, while the Manager level candidate should have a minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience in these projects. Additionally, the candidate must have a minimum of 7 years of experience in contract management for the Deputy General Manager level and a minimum of 4 years of experience in contract management for the Manager level, out of the total experience specified for the respective posts. The candidate’s experience in contract management must include handling of extension of time, variation, dispute resolution, and claim management. A thorough knowledge of FIDIC conditions of contract is essential. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in handling contract management of Government contracts, rate analysis, and working knowledge of M.S. Project / PRIMAVERA.
For Post Code No. 05 – Manager (Contract Procurement), candidates must hold a B.E/B.Tech (Civil/Mech/ECE/EEE) degree from a Govt. recognized Institute / University approved by AICTE / UGC. The ideal candidate must possess a minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience in Metro/Railways/Large infrastructure projects, out of which at least 4 years of experience must be in handling contract procurement. This experience must include tendering for works, consultancy, service and system contracts. Knowledge of e-procurement, GeM procurement, CVC guidelines, statutory taxation/levies, and drafting of tender and evaluation of bids are essential. Preference will be given to candidates with experience and knowledge in Multinational Bank Procurement procedures, FIDIC conditions of contract, and Government contracting modalities.
For Post Code No. 06 – Manager (Safety), candidates must possess a B.E/B.Tech or Diploma in Civil/Mechanical engineering from a Govt. recognized University/Institute approved by AICTE/UGC, along with a Diploma in Industrial Safety or Certificate in OSHA/NEBOSH/Safety Management by IOSH. Degree holders should have a minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience in the relevant field, while diploma holders should possess 11 years of total experience in the relevant field (6 years of experience post-diploma and 5 years of experience post-engineering degree). The candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in handling Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) in major infrastructure works such as Metro/Railways/Airports/Highways/Large Industrial or commercial or residential building project contracts. Exposure in safety assessment/audit of site works and construction equipment is essential.
For Post Code No. 07 – Assistant Manager / Deputy Manager / Manager (Electrical & Mechanical), candidates must hold a B.E/B.Tech (EEE/ECE/Mech) degree from a Govt. recognized University / Institute approved by AICTE / UGC. The ideal candidate for the Manager level must possess a minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience, while the Deputy Manager level candidate should have a minimum of 4 years of post-qualification experience, and the Assistant Manager level candidate should have 2 years of post-qualification experience in the field of MEP / E&M. Familiarity with design aspects of life safety and fire safety requirement in design implementations and material selection is necessary. Candidates must have experience in the design/construction of various elements of Architectural finishes for room layout and station signages, as well as exposure to design software such as CADD, Photoshop, 3D Max, Revit or Equivalent software.
Post Code No. 09 – Assistant Manager / Deputy Manager (Civil) position requires a B.E / B. Tech (Civil) degree from a Govt. recognized University / Institute, approved by AICTE / UGC. Candidates should possess a minimum of 4 years of post-qualification experience for Deputy Manager level and a minimum of 2 years for Assistant Manager level in the execution of large Infrastructure projects such as construction of major bridge / Highways / Railways/ Metro Rail Projects. Familiarity with contract management related to large infrastructure projects, with experience in Metro constructions/deep excavation support systems, is preferable. Post Code No. 10 – Assistant Manager / Deputy Manager (Design) position requires a B.E / B. Tech (Civil) degree from a Govt. recognized University / Institute, approved by AICTE / UGC. Possession of M.E / M.Tech (Civil) is preferable. Candidates should possess a minimum of 4 years of post-qualification experience for Deputy Manager level and 2 years for Assistant Manager level in the design of viaducts, bridges, Metro structures, and multistoried buildings. Candidates should also be familiar with the Standard Indian & Euro Codes and Practices followed in India for Buildings and Bridges.
Post Code No. 11 (a) – Assistant Manager (Electronics) position requires a B.E / B.Tech (Electronics or Electronics & Communication) degree from a Govt. recognized University / Institute, approved by AICTE / UGC. Candidates should possess a minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience in Installation, testing, and commissioning, and/or maintenance of electronics/telecom system works in Metro Railways/LRT/MRTS/Railways. Installation, commissioning of backbone OFC, copper or other cable, Telecommunications equipment. Knowledge of LAN server/switches, digital /IP /analogue Telephone exchanges, PA System, Access control, CCTV Surveillance, Display systems, wireless transmission system is desirable.

The selection process for the post of Assistant Manager in CMRL involves two stages: an interview and a medical examination. Candidates will be evaluated based on various factors such as knowledge, skills, comprehension, attitude, aptitude, and physical fitness.
For the first medical examination, CMRL will bear the expenses. However, if a candidate requests an extension for joining, then the expenses for the second medical examination will be borne by the candidate. Candidates will be responsible for the to-and-fro travel expenses for the medical test. If a candidate fails the prescribed medical test, they will not be considered for any alternative employment, and the decision of CMRL will be final.
Candidates belonging to the unreserved and other categories must pay a non-refundable fee of Rs. 300, while SC/ST candidates must pay a non-refundable fee of Rs. 50 for processing and postage charges. The fee can be paid via a Demand Draft drawn in favor of M/s Chennai Metro Rail Limited payable at Chennai or through electronic mode to the account mentioned in the advertisement. Differently-abled persons do not need to pay any application fee, but they must attach their disability certificate along with the application.
To apply for the Assistant Manager post, candidates must first register on the CMRL Career portal using a valid email id. After verifying the email id, candidates can fill out the online application form, upload the necessary documents, and submit it. Candidates must then save and print the application form, attach a passport-sized photo, and send the hard copy of the form with self-attested copies of educational qualification certificates, experience certificates, birth certificates, community certificates, and other supporting documents to the Additional General Manager (HR) at the address mentioned in the advertisement. The envelope should be superscribed with “Employment Notification No.” and “Post applied for.”
The starting date for submission of the application is 28.04.2023, and the last date for submission is 25.05.2023. Candidates are advised to apply online well in advance and send the hard copy of the application form with the required documents on or before the deadline. CMRL will not be responsible for any delay or loss in postal transit of applications, DD/NEFT payment details, or any other documentary proof.
