As of 24/04/2023, there are several positions available for Managers with various qualifications and experience requirements.
For the Manager (Coal, Coke & Chemical) (E-3) position, applicants must possess a B.E./B.Tech. degree in Chemical Engineering from a recognized university/institute. They should have at least seven years of post-qualification experience in executive cadre in consultancy/design & engineering/projects & construction/operation & maintenance in Steel Plant (Blast Furnace-Basic Oxygen Furnace Route)/Coke Plant/Coal Chemical Plant for the by-product recovery type Coke Ovens/Coal Chemical Plant.
As for the Manager (Civil & Structural) (E-3) position, applicants should have a B.E./B.Tech. degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university/institution. They must have at least seven years of post-qualification experience in executive cadre in consultancy/design & engineering/projects & construction in any of the following areas in multidisciplinary projects: Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC)/Steel Structural Design, Highway and Permanent Way Design, and Water Supply and Sewage Treatment Plant.
Applicants for the Manager (Process, Control & Automation) (E-3) position must have a B.E./B.Tech. degree in Electronics & Communication/Electronics & Instrumentation/Instrumentation & Control/Electrical & Electronics Engineering from a recognized university/institution. They should have at least seven years of post-qualification experience in executive cadre in consultancy/design & engineering/projects & construction/operation & maintenance in Steel Plant (Blast Furnace-Basic Oxygen Furnace Route)/Power Plant/Manufacturing Plant/Process Plant for the Instrumentation Process Control & Automation area.
For the Manager (Electrical) (E-3) position, applicants must possess a B.E./B.Tech. degree in Electrical/Electrical & Electronics Engineering from a recognized university/institution. They must have at least seven years of post-qualification experience in executive cadre in consultancy/design & engineering/projects & construction/operation & maintenance in Steel Plant (Blast Furnace-Basic Oxygen Furnace Route)/Power Plant/Mining/Process Plant/Manufacturing Plant/Infrastructure for the EHV/HV/LV Power Distribution/MCC/IMCC/PLC/Drives area.
As for the Manager (Mechanical/U&S) (E-3) position, applicants must have a B.E./B.Tech. degree in Mechanical/Production Engineering from a recognized university/institution. The Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has released an official notification regarding the age limit and salary details for the position of Manager in various departments. The age limit for all six positions is 35 years, as of April 24th, 2023. However, there is a relaxation of 5 years for candidates belonging to the SC/ST category, 3 years for OBC candidates, and 10 years for persons with disabilities. For SC/ST PWD candidates, the relaxation is 15 years, and for OBC PWD candidates, it is 13 years. Ex-servicemen will also receive relaxation as per the government of India’s rules. The salary details for all six positions are the same, with a pay scale of Rs.80,000–3%–2,20,000/-. SAIL Recruitment Process and Eligibility Criteria
The Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) recruits candidates for managerial positions through a selection process that includes a Computer-Based Test (CBT), an interview, or both. Candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria can apply for the vacancies advertised by SAIL.
The selection process includes a Written Test (CBT) or Interview, or both, depending on the position applied for. Eligible candidates will receive intimation about the selection process through Admit Card/Call Letter, Email/SMS, and the SAIL website. If a CBT is conducted, candidates can download the Call letter from the SAIL website.
The CBT will comprise of 100 multiple-choice questions divided into two segments. The first segment will consist of 70 technical knowledge questions, and the second segment will have 30 General Awareness questions. The minimum qualifying marks for the CBT will be 50 percentile score for unreserved posts and 40 percentile score for SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/PWD candidates for the reserved posts. Candidates will be shortlisted for an interview in the order of merit, at a ratio of 1:3. For final selection, a merit list will be drawn up by combining the CBT and Interview scores with a weightage of 80:20, respectively.
In case the selection is through an interview only, the minimum qualifying marks will be 50% for unreserved posts and 40% for posts reserved for SC/ST/OBC (NCL) candidates.
PWD/ESM candidates must qualify in their respective caste/category posts. The qualifications must be from universities or institutes recognized/accredited by councils/bodies like UGC/AICTE set up by Central/State Governments.
Candidates must be in the direct pay roll of the organization from which they have obtained the desired experiences in the executive cadre for seven years after B.E/B.Tech. Candidates applying from other PSUs/Govt. should have completed a minimum of two years in the next below grade/pay scale.
It is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that they fulfill the eligibility criteria mentioned in the advertisement. Candidates must provide sufficient documentary evidence during the submission of the application/interview, confirming that they fulfill all eligibility criteria for the post applied for, with respect to age, caste, qualification, qualifying marks, experience of seven years in the relevant field in the executive cadre, and employment in the direct pay roll of the concerned organization.
Candidates who have not fulfilled the eligibility criteria mentioned above, on or before the closing date of receipt of the application, i.e., 24/04/2023, need not apply.

The application/exam fee for SAIL Manager is Rs. 700 for General/OBC/EWS candidates and Rs. 200 for SC/ST/PWD/ESM candidates. Applicants must pay the application fee through the online payment mode only, as indicated in the table above.
