Projected Vacancies for the Junior Hindi Translator, Junior Translator, and Senior Hindi Translator Examination, 2023: Educational Qualifications (Valid as of 12th September 2023):
For post codes ‘A’ to ‘C’ (Junior Hindi Translator / Junior Translation Officer / Junior Translator in various Central Government Ministries / Departments / Organizations):
- A Master’s degree from a recognized University in Hindi with English as a mandatory or optional subject or as the language of study at the degree level; or
- A Master’s degree from a recognized University in English with Hindi as a mandatory or optional subject or as the language of study at the degree level; or
- A Master’s degree from a recognized University in a subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi as the medium and English as a mandatory or optional subject or as the language of study at the degree level; or
- A Master’s degree from a recognized University in a subject other than Hindi or English, with English as the medium and Hindi as a mandatory or optional subject or as the language of study at the degree level; or
- A Master’s degree from a recognized University in a subject other than Hindi or English, with both Hindi and English as mandatory or optional subjects or with one as the medium of study and the other as a mandatory or optional subject at the degree level
- A Recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English and vice versa, or two years of experience in translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa in Central or State Government Offices, including Government of India Undertakings.

Age Criteria (As of 1st August 2023):
Applicants should be aged between 18 and 30 years as of 1st August 2023, meaning they should have been born between 2nd August 1993 and 1st August 2005.
There is a relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit for SC/ST candidates, 3 years for OBC candidates, 10 years for Persons with Disabilities (15 years for SC/ST PWDs and 13 years for OBC PWDs), and as per Government of India rules for Ex-Servicemen.
Salary Particulars:
- Junior Translation Officer (JTO) in Central Secretariat Official Language Service (CSOLS) – Level-6 (Rs. 35,400 – 1,12,400)
- Junior Translation Officer (JTO) in Armed Forces Headquarters (AFHQ) – Level-6 (Rs. 35,400 – 1,12,400)
- Junior Hindi Translator (JHT) / Junior Translation Officer (JTO) / Junior Translator (JT) in various Central Government Ministries / Departments / Organizations – Level-6 (Rs. 35,400 – 1,12,400)
- Senior Hindi Translator (SHT) / Senior Translator (ST) in various Central Government Ministries / Departments / Organizations – Level-7 (Rs. 44,900 – 1,42,400)
Selection Procedure for SSC Junior Translator, Junior Hindi Translator, and Senior Hindi Translator 2023:
The selection process includes the following stages:
- Paper-I (Computer Based Examination) & Paper-II (Translation and Essay)
- Document Verification (DV)
Examination Centers in Tamil Nadu: Chennai, Tiruchirapalli, Tirunelveli
Application Fee/Exam Fee for SSC Junior Translator, Junior Hindi Translator, and Senior Hindi Translator:
The fee amount is Rs. 100/- (One hundred rupees) payable. Female candidates and those belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), and Ex-Servicemen eligible for reservation are exempted from the fee. The fee can be paid only through online modes, such as BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or by using Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, or RuPay Credit or Debit cards.

Eligible candidates must apply online only through the link on the SSC website provided in the careers webpage under the current openings section. The application window is open from 22nd August 2023 to 12th September 2023. No other method of application will be accepted.
