Eligibility Criteria:
Educational Qualification and Experience: (As on 23.04.2024)
- Assistant Commissioner –
- Must possess any degree and also a degree of Bachelor of Law (3 years course) or a degree of Bachelor of Law (5 years Integrated course) of a University recognized by the University Grants Commission for purpose of its Grant.
- Must be actually practicing as an Advocate or as a Pleader in a Court of Civil or Criminal Jurisdiction for a period of not less than three years. or
- Must have put in service of not less than six years in the post of Executive Officer, Grade-I or Grade-II or Grade-III or Grade-IV, or Inspector or Head Clerk or Manager or Superintendent in the Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department.
- District Educational Officer – a) For Open Market candidates:
- A Master’s degree of any University recognized by the University Grants Commission in the State or a degree of equivalent standard in any one of the following subjects namely Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Economics, Geography, History, Commerce, Tamil and English.
- Should have studied Tamil under Part-I or Part-II of the Intermediate or Pre-University Course or Higher Secondary Course.
- Bachelor of Teaching or Bachelor of Education of any recognized University in the State or a degree of equivalent standard.
b) For the Teacher candidates employed in recognized aided secondary schools and higher secondary schools:
- A Master’s Degree of any University recognized by the University Grants Commission in the State or a Degree of equivalent standard in any one of the following subjects namely Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Economics, Geography, History, Commerce, Tamil and English.
- Should have studied Tamil under Part-I or Part-II of the Intermediate or Pre-University Course or Higher Secondary Course.
- Teaching experience for a period of not less than twelve years in a recognized school after acquiring the degree of Bachelor of Teaching or equivalent qualification.

- Assistant Commissioner – 34 Years
- District Educational Officer –
- (i) From Open Market – 32 Years
- (ii) From among Teachers employed in recognized aided Secondary Schools and Higher Secondary Schools – 42 Years
Age Concession:
The post-wise permissible relaxation of the maximum age limit for different categories is given in the notification.
