Description About this Job
The Union Public Service Commission has announced vacancies for the post of Assistant Commandants (Group A) in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), which includes Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
A written examination will be conducted on August 6th, 2023, in accordance with the Rules published by the Ministry of Home Affairs in the Gazette of India on April 26th, 2023.
The Commission reserves the right to change the examination date as deemed necessary.
The tentative number of vacancies to be filled based on the examination results is 322, with BSF having 86 vacancies, CRPF having 55, CISF having 91, ITBP having 60, and SSB having 30.
However, the number of vacancies is subject to change.
The government’s policy on reservations will be followed, with 10% of the vacancies earmarked for ex-servicemen.
Eligibility Criteria for UPSC Assistant Commandants:
To be eligible for the UPSC Assistant Commandants examination, candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree from a University that is incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India.
Additionally, candidates may also possess an equivalent qualification from educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.
It’s important to note that candidates who have appeared for an examination that would make them educationally qualified for the UPSC Assistant Commandants examination, but have not yet received their results, are also eligible to apply.
Furthermore, candidates who plan to appear for such qualifying examinations in 2023 will also be eligible for the examination.
However, the admission of such candidates to the examination will be provisional and subject to cancellation if they do not provide proof of having passed the required examination.
This proof must be submitted online along with the Detailed Application Form, which is required to be submitted by candidates who have qualified in the written part of the examination, as well as the Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests.
The proof of passing the required examination should have been issued by the closing date of the Detailed Application Form for the Central Armed Police Forces (Assistant Commandants) Examination, 2023.
The age limit for candidates applying for the UPSC Assistant Commandants Selection Process 2023 is as follows:
The candidate must be at least 20 years old but not more than 25 years old as of August 1st, 2023.
In other words, the candidate should have been born between August 2nd, 1998 and August 1st, 2003.
However, there are certain relaxations in the upper age limit for candidates belonging to specific categories.
Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates are eligible for a relaxation of up to five years, while Other Backward Classes candidates who can avail reservation are eligible for a relaxation of up to three years.
Civilian Central Government Servants, as well as Ex-Servicemen, can avail a relaxation of up to five years, but the total relaxation claimed on account of Government Service is limited to five years.
The selection process for the UPSC Assistant Commandants may consist of a Written Examination, Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests, Medical Standards Tests, and Interview/Personality Test.
The exam center in Tamil Nadu is available in Chennai and Madurai.
The application/exam fee for UPSC Assistant Commandants is Rs.200/-, which must be paid by candidates (except for Female/SC/ST candidates who are exempt) through various modes such as Visa/Master/RuPay Credit/Debit Card, UPI Payment, Internet Banking, or by remitting the money at any State Bank of India branch.
Applicants who choose the “Pay by Cash” option should print the system-generated Pay-in-slip during part II registration and deposit the fee at an SBI Branch counter on the next working day only.
The “Pay by Cash” mode will be deactivated at 23.59 hours of 15.05.2023, i.e., one day before the closing date. However, applicants who have generated their Pay-in-Slip before deactivation may pay at the SBI Branch counter during banking hours on the closing date.
Those who are unable to pay by cash on the closing date, even if holding a valid pay-in-slip, must opt for online payment modes such as Debit/Credit Card or Internet Banking till 18:00 Hours of 16.05.2023.
To apply for the UPSC Assistant Commandants Post, candidates meeting the eligibility criteria must apply online only through the link provided on the UPSC website’s careers webpage under the current openings section from 26.04.2023 to 16.05.2023.
No other mode of application will be accepted. Female/SC/ST candidates are exempted from paying the application fee.
