UPSC SAO & Aeronautical Officer Eligibility Criteria:
- Aeronautical Officer:
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must possess a Degree in Aeronautical or Electrical or Electronics or Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering from a recognized University.
- Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in aircraft design and development, including aircraft electrical or electronics or mechanical systems, or airworthiness engineering.
- Desirable: One year of experience in aeronautical research and development, design, or laboratory investigation of failed aircraft parts or Flight Recorders involved in accidents or incidents, or Airworthiness Engineering.
- Principal Civil Hydrographic Officer:
- Educational Qualification: Candidates should have a Degree in Engineering in Civil or Computer Science or Information Technology OR a Masters Degree in Mathematics or Geography or Geophysics or Computer Applications or Computer Science or Information Technology OR Pass in the final examination of the institution of surveyors in subdivision1(B) Hydrographic surveying. (Only those students who were enrolled with Institutions with permanent recognition up to 31.05.2013 would be eligible.)
- Experience: Candidates must have a minimum of three years of experience in Nautical Chart Compilation and Digital Cartography. The experience should be from Government or autonomous organizations or statutory bodies or public sector undertakings or Universities or recognized research institutions.
- Desirable: (i) Certificate or diploma in a foreign language, preferably French. (ii) One year of experience in the application of geographical information system technology.
- Senior Administrative Officer Grade-II:
- Educational Qualification: Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university or institution.
- Experience: Candidates must have a minimum of three years’ experience in administration or establishment or accounts work.
- Scientist ‘B’:
- Educational Qualification: Candidates should possess a Master’s Degree in Science in the required Discipline (i.e. Botany/Horticulture/Organic Chemistry) from a recognized University or equivalent.
- Desirable: (i) Experience in research/teaching in the relevant field (i.e. Taxonomy of any of the following groups: Angiosperm/Bryophytes/Lichens/Fungi/Algae or Molecular taxonomy). (ii) Knowledge of Latin/German/French/Russian.
- Assistant Geophysicist:
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must have a Master’s Degree in Physics or Geophysics or Geology or Mathematics from a recognized University or Institute; OR BE or AMIE in Electronics or Communication from a recognized University or Institute.
Age Limit:
- Aeronautical Officer – Maximum 35 years
- Principal Civil Hydrographic Officer – Maximum 35 years
- Senior Administrative Officer Grade-II – Maximum 35 years
- Scientist ‘B’ – Maximum 35 years
- Assistant Geophysicist – Maximum 40 years
The upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST; 3 years for OBC, 10 years for Persons with Disabilities (15 years for SC/ST PWDs & 13 years for OBC PWDs), and for Ex-Servicemen as per the Government of India rules. Candidates’ age relaxation in the upper age limit will be provided as per Government rules. Refer to the UPSC official Notification 2023 for more details.
Salary Details:
- Aeronautical Officer – Level- 10 in the Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC
- Principal Civil Hydrographic Officer – Level- 10 in the Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC
- Senior Administrative Officer Grade-II – Level- 10 in the Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC
- Scientist ‘B’ – Level- 10 in the Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC
- Assistant Geophysicist – Level- 08 in the Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC.
UPSC SAO & Aeronautical Officer Selection Process 2023:
The selection process for UPSC SAO & Aeronautical Officer may include the following stages:
- Recruitment Test
- Interview
Application Fee/Exam Fee for UPSC SAO & Aeronautical Officer:
(a) Candidates (Except Female/SC/ST/Persons with Benchmark Disability Candidates who are exempted from the payment of the fee) are required to pay a fee of Rs. 25/- (Rupees Twenty-five) only. The payment can be made by remitting the money in any branch of the SBI by cash or by using net banking facility of any bank or by using Visa/Master/Rupay/Credit/Debit Card/UPI payment.
(b) SC/ST/PwBD/Women candidates of any community are exempted from the fee payment.
(c) Applications without the prescribed fee would not be considered and summarily rejected. No representation against such rejection would be entertained.
(d) Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstance nor can the fee be held in reserve for any other examination or selection.
