Eligibility Criteria:
Educational Qualification:
- Technical Assistant (Mechanical) – Diploma in Mechanical Engg. with at least 3 years full-time duration or at least 2 years full-time duration in the case of lateral admission, with a minimum of 60% marks and 02 years of relevant experience from a recognized Institute/Organization.
- Technical Assistant (Electronics/EEE) – Diploma in Electronics Engg/EEE with at least 3 years full-time duration or at least 2 years full-time duration in the case of lateral admission, with a minimum of 80% marks and 02 years of relevant experience from a recognized Institute/Organization.
- Technical Assistant (Civil) – Diploma in Civil Engg. with at least 3 years full-time duration or at least 2 years full-time duration in the case of lateral admission, with a minimum of 60% marks and 02 years of relevant experience from a recognized Institute/Organization.
- Technical Assistant (Chemical Engineering) – Diploma in Chemical Engg. with at least 3 years full-time duration or 02 years full-time duration in the case of lateral admission in a diploma course, with a minimum of 60% marks and 02 years of relevant experience from a recognized Institute/Organization.
- Technical Assistant (Chemical Science) – B.Sc. or equivalent with a minimum of 60% marks, having chemistry as one of the subjects, and one year experience in a relevant discipline from a recognized Institute/Organization.
- Technical Assistant (Microbiology / Biotechnology) – B.Sc. or equivalent with a minimum of 60% marks, having microbiology/biotechnology as one of the subjects, and one year experience in a relevant discipline from a recognized Institute/Organization.

Age Limit: (As on 09.11.2023)
- Technical Assistant – 28 Years
- Technician (1) – 28 Years The upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST; 3 years for OBC, 10 Years for Persons with Disabilities (15 years for SC/ST PWD’s & 13 years for OBC PWD’s) and for Ex-S as per Govt. of India rules. Candidates Relaxation in Upper Age limit will be provided as per Govt. Rules. Refer to the IIP official Notification 2023 for more details.
Salary Details:
- Technical Assistant – Pay Level-6 (Rs. 35400-112400)
- Technician (1) – Pay Level-2 (Rs 19900-63200)
Selection Process:
(1) The candidates recommended by the Screening Committee will undergo a Trade/Skill test in the relevant area. Those who qualify will be invited for a competitive OMR/Computer-based objective type multiple-choice examination, consisting of three papers (Paper-I, II & III). Paper-I is qualifying in nature. The final merit list will be based on the marks obtained in Paper-II & III.
(2) Paper-II & III will be evaluated only for candidates meeting the minimum threshold marks (to be determined by the Selection Committee) in Paper-I.
Application Fee:
Candidates belonging to General, OBC & EWS category need to deposit a fee of Rs. 500/- through SB Collect. SC/ST/PWD/Women/Ex-servicemen/Abroad candidates and regular employees of CSIR are exempt from payment.
How to Apply:
(1) Eligible candidates must submit an ONLINE application through the website. Register with a valid email ID before applying.
(2) If the candidate doesn’t have a valid E-mail ID, create a new one before applying online.
(3) Attach scanned copies of original educational and professional qualification certificates, mark sheets, experience certificates, caste certificate (if applicable), fee receipt, and other documents in a single PDF file with the online application.
(4) Send the printed Application Form, manually signed, with self-attested copies of certificates, mark sheets, testimonials, a recent passport-size self-signed photograph, and the application fee receipt (if applicable) to Sr. Controller of Administration, CSIR-Indian Institute of Petroleum, P.O. I.I.P., Mohkampur, Haridwar Road, Dehradun-248005 (Uttarakhand) by Registered/Speed Post. The last date for receiving hard copies is 19.11.2023 (5:30 PM).
