The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is inviting applications for various posts under the following categories:
- Indian Military Academy, Dehradun – 157th (DE) Course commencing in July 2024 [including 13 vacancies reserved for NCC ‘C’ (Army Wing) holders]: 100 posts
- Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala – Course commencing in July 2024 Executive Branch (General Service)/Hydro [including 06 vacancies for NCC ‘C’ Certificate (Naval Wing) holders]: 32 posts
- Air Force Academy, Hyderabad – (Pre-Flying) Training Course commencing in July 2024 i.e. No. 216 F(P) Course. [including 03 vacancies reserved for NCC ‘C’ Certificate (Air Wing) holders through NCC Special Entry]: 32 posts
- Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai (Madras) 120th SSC (Men) (NT) (UPSC) Course Commencing in October 2024: 169 posts

UPSC CDS II Eligibility Criteria:
Educational Qualification:
(i) For Indian Military Academy and Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai: Degree from a recognized University or equivalent.
(ii) For Indian Naval Academy: Degree in Engineering from a recognized University/Institution.
(iii) For Air Force Academy: Degree from a recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.
Candidates with a preference for Army/Navy/Air Force as their first choice should submit proof of graduation/provisional certificates on the date of commencement of the SSB Interview at the Services Selection Board (SSB).

Age Limit:
(i) The Indian Military Academy (IMA) accepts unmarried male candidates who were born between 2nd July 2000 and 1st July 2005.
(ii) The Indian Naval Academy also accepts unmarried male candidates who were born between 2nd July 2000 and 1st July 2005.
(iii) The Air Force Academy has an age requirement of 20 to 24 years as of 1st July 2024. Candidates must have been born between 2nd July 2000 and 1st July 2004. However, candidates holding a valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) can be up to 26 years old. They must have been born between 2nd July 1998 and 1st July 2004.
Note: Candidates below 25 years of age must be unmarried. Marriage is not permitted during training. Married candidates above 25 years of age are eligible to apply, but they will not be provided married accommodation during the training period, nor can they live with their families off the premises.
(iv) The Officers’ Training Academy (SSC Course for men) accepts unmarried male candidates who were born between 2nd July 1999 and 1st July 2005.
(v) The Officers’ Training Academy (SSC Women Non-Technical Course) accepts unmarried women, issueless widows who have not remarried, and issueless divorcees (possessing divorce documents) who have not remarried. They should have been born between 2nd July 1999 and 1st July 2005.
NOTE: Male divorcees/widowers cannot be treated as unmarried males for admission to IMA/INA/AFA/OTA, Chennai courses. Therefore, they are not eligible for these courses. The accepted date of birth is the one mentioned in the Matriculation/Secondary School Examination Certificate or a certificate recognized by an Indian University as equivalent to Matriculation. Certificates relating to age such as horoscopes, affidavits, birth extracts from the Municipal Corporation, service records, etc., will not be accepted.
Salary Details:
During the entire duration of training at service academies (IMA and OTA), gentlemen or women cadets receive a stipend of Rs 56,100/- per month* (Starting pay in Level 10).
*Upon successful commissioning, the pay in the Pay matrix of the Officer commissioned will be fixed in the first Cell of Level 10. The training period will not be considered as commissioned service, and arrears on account of admissible allowances for the training period will be paid to cadets.
UPSC CDS II Selection Process 2023:
The UPSC selection process for CDS II may include the following steps:
- Written Exam (Paper I & Paper II)
- Psychological Aptitude Test and Intelligence Test
Exam Centers in Tamil Nadu: Chennai, Coimbatore, Tiruchirapalli, Madurai, Vellore
Application Fee/Exam Fee for UPSC CDS II:
Candidates (except Female/SC/ST candidates, who are exempted from paying the fee) are required to pay a fee of Rs. 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred Only). The fee can be paid by remitting the money in any branch of SBI in cash, or by using Visa/Master/Rupay Credit/Debit Card, UPI Payment, or internet banking facility of any Bank.
NOTE 1: Applicants who choose the “Pay by Cash” mode should print the system-generated Pay-in-slip during Part-II registration and deposit the fee at an SBI Branch counter on the next working day only. The “Pay by Cash” mode option will be deactivated at
