The Indian Army has released the latest vacancy details for the 138th Technical Graduate Course (TGC-138), inviting applications from eligible male engineering graduates who are unmarried. The course is set to commence in January 2024 at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun, offering permanent commission in the Indian Army.
There are various engineering streams available for applicants, which are equivalent to the engineering streams approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The number of vacancies for each stream is as follows:
- Civil Engineering: 11 vacancies
- Computer Science: 9 vacancies
- Electrical Engineering: 4 vacancies
For each stream, there are multiple equivalent engineering streams approved by the AICTE. For instance, the Civil Engineering stream includes Building Construction & Technology, Civil and Rural Engineering, and Environmental Planning, among others. Similarly, the Computer Science stream includes Computer Technology, Computer Science & Engineering, and Nano Science & Technology, among others. Eligibility requirements for the Indian Army Vacancy 2023 are as follows:
Candidates must have completed the necessary Engineering Degree program or be in their final year of study to apply. Those in their final year of the engineering degree program must be able to provide evidence of passing the Engineering Degree Examination, as well as marksheets from all semesters/years, by January 1, 2024. Additionally, within 12 weeks of starting training at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), these candidates must obtain their Engineering Degree Certificate. In the event that they are unable to produce the required degree certificate, they will be inducted on an Additional Bond Basis to recover the cost of training at IMA, as well as stipends and pay & allowances paid.
Applicants must be between 20 to 27 years old as of 01 Jan 2024, inclusive of both dates, with a birth date between 02 Jan 1997 and 01 Jan 2004, to be eligible.
Salary information is as follows:
Fixed monthly stipend of Rs. 56,100 for Cadet Training at Level 10, which is the starting pay.
Rank, Level, and Pay (in Rs.) are as follows:

Captain: Level 10B, Rs. 61,300-1,93,900/-

The Indian Army has a rigorous selection process for applicants interested in serving in the armed forces. The selection procedure involves a series of steps that are designed to test the physical and mental fitness of candidates, as well as their engineering and architectural knowledge.
The first step in the selection process is the shortlisting of applications. The Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) has the authority to shortlist applications and determine the cutoff percentage of marks for each engineering discipline/stream. This cutoff percentage will be based on the cumulative percentage of marks obtained by candidates up to the final semester/year.
Candidates who are in their final semester/year of their degree will be provisionally allowed to appear in the Services Selection Board (SSB), subject to certain conditions. These conditions include ensuring that their cumulative percentage of marks up to the 6th semester/3rd year of Engg degree, up to the 8th semester/4th year of B. Architecture (B.Arch), and up to the 2nd semester/1st year of M.Sc in the equivalent stream/discipline is not below the approved cutoff percentage for their respective streams. Additionally, after the final results are declared, their cumulative percentage of marks up to the final semester/year of the degree course should not be less than the approved cutoff percentage. Failure to meet these conditions will result in the cancellation of the candidate’s candidature.
After the applications have been shortlisted, candidates will be notified of their centre allotment via email. Once a Selection Centre has been assigned, candidates will be required to log in to the website and select their SSB dates. These dates are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis initially, and will be allotted by the Selection Centres thereafter. However, in the event of exceptional circumstances or events, the option to select the dates for the SSB may be forfeited.
Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria for the Indian Army’s Technical Graduate Course will need to undergo a two-stage selection process. The first stage involves a cutoff percentage, and only shortlisted candidates will be interviewed at one of the four selection centers located in Allahabad, Bhopal, Bangalore, and Kapurthala by a psychologist, group testing officer, and interviewing officer. The selection center will be allotted at the discretion of the Directorate General of Recruiting, IHQ MoD (Army), and no requests for changes will be entertained.
Candidates who clear Stage-1 will proceed to Stage-2, while those who fail in Stage-1 will be returned on the same day. The SSB interviews will last for five days, and details are available on the official website of the Directorate General of Recruiting at Official Website Given Below Candidates who get recommended after Stage 2 will undergo a medical examination. Those recommended by the SSB and declared medically fit will receive a joining letter for training in the order of merit, subject to meeting all eligibility criteria.
To apply for the Indian Army TGC-138 post, candidates must visit the website Given Below and submit their application online. They need to click on ‘Officer Entry Apply/Login’ and then ‘Registration,’ fill the online registration form after reading the instructions carefully. After getting registered, they need to click on ‘Apply Online’ under the dashboard, and a page Officers Selection ‘Eligibility’ will open. Then click ‘Apply’ shown against Technical Graduate Course, and a page ‘Application Form’ will open. They need to read the instructions carefully and fill in the details required under various segments such as personal information, communication details, education details, and details of previous SSB. They need to save and continue each time before proceeding to the next segment. After filling in all the details, they will move to a page ‘Summary of your information’ to check and edit the entries already made. Only after verifying the correctness of the details, they need to click on ‘Submit.’ Candidates must click on ‘Submit’ each time they open the application for editing any details. They are required to take out two copies of their application having Roll Number, 30 minutes after the final closure of the online application on the last day.
