About the Role:

The Pharmacist plays a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of patients by dispensing medications accurately and providing expert advice. This position requires a strong foundation in pharmacology, a commitment to patient care, and meticulous attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

• Dispensing Medications: You will be responsible for accurately dispensing prescribed medications to patients, following physician orders meticulously. This involves carefully reviewing prescriptions, verifying dosage and quantity, and ensuring compatibility with existing medications.
• Inventory Management: You will manage the pharmacy’s inventory efficiently. This includes raising requisition slips to maintain stock levels, receiving and verifying deliveries against issue slips, and conducting daily physical stock verification against computer data. Additionally, you will be responsible for taking monthly stock of short-expiry medicines and biannual stock of non-moving medicines to minimize waste.
• Building Customer Relationships: You will play a key role in building positive customer relationships by providing exceptional service and comprehensive care. This includes receiving prescriptions from patients, reviewing them thoroughly, and clarifying any doubts with the referring doctor.
• Substitute Management: In instances where a prescribed drug is unavailable, you will take initiative to source it from internal stores or distributors. If a specific brand is unavailable, you will inform the doctor and suggest suitable substitutes.
• Narcotic Control: For controlled substances like narcotic drugs, you will ensure the utmost vigilance. This includes verifying that prescriptions are duly signed and stamped by the referring doctor with current date.
• Patient Education: You will play a crucial role in patient education. This involves clarifying the prescribed medication quantity and dosage with patients. You will also prepare bills for dispensed medications and inform patients about the cost.
• Medication Packaging and Verification: You will carefully retrieve medications from designated racks based on prescriptions and bills. Every retrieved medication will undergo a thorough physical check to verify batch number, expiry date, and quantity against the prescription and the approved pharmacist’s verification.
• Dispensing and Counseling: After verification, you will securely pack the dispensed medications along with the original prescription and bill. For patients who require additional guidance, you will provide counseling on the medication dosage and treatment regimen. This ensures patients understand how to take their medications safely and effectively.

Qualifications:

• Licensed Pharmacist with a degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm. or D.Pharm.)
• Strong knowledge of pharmacology, including medication interactions, side effects, and contraindications.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, doctors, and colleagues.
• Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a healthcare team.
• Proficient in computer software programs relevant to pharmacy operations.

Additional Skills (Desirable):

• Experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting.
• Excellent customer service experience.
