The National Centre for Earth Science Studies (NCESS), a premier research institute under the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Government of India, is seeking applications for two (2) Project Associate I positions. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals with a strong background in earth sciences, physical oceanography, or related fields to contribute to ongoing research projects at NCESS.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Educational Qualification (Essential):
  • Master’s degree in Physical Oceanography, Ocean Technology, Remote Sensing, Data Science, or a recognized equivalent from a university accredited by a recognized body.
  • OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics or Computer Science from a recognized university accredited by a recognized body.
• Desirable Skills and Experience:
  • Experience in data analysis and programming skills using Python or MATLAB.
  • Experience in image and video processing techniques.
  • Experience in setting up, deploying, and retrieving marine instruments like wave gauges, ADCPs, tide gauges, and Automatic Weather Stations (AWS).
  • Experience in post-processing data collected from marine instruments, beach profile measurements, and related activities.
• Age Limit:
  • As of July 15, 2024, candidates must be 35 years old or younger.

Salary Details:

The salary offered will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and selection process. There are two salary structures:

1. ₹31,000/- + HRA: This applies to candidates who are selected through either: * Qualifying National Eligibility Tests (NET) like CSIR-UGC NET (including lectureship or Assistant Professorship) or GATE. * A selection process conducted through national-level examinations by Central Government Departments, their Agencies, or Institutions.
2. ₹25,000/- + HRA: This applies to candidates who do not meet the criteria for the higher salary bracket mentioned above.
