Additionally, a five (5) year relaxation in the upper age limit is granted to candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST) category in each case. Consequently,
  5. a total of 10 years of age relaxation is available exclusively to SC/ST candidates. It is important to note that while additional age relaxation is extended to SC/ST candidates, no posts are reserved for any specific category of candidates.
  6. Educational and Other Qualifications Required: (i) For Postal Assistant / Sorting Assistant posts: a) A Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University. b) Proficiency in computer usage.

(ii) For Postman / Mail Guard posts: a) Successful completion of the 12th standard from a recognized Board. b) Proficiency in the local language of the concerned Postal Circle or Division as one of the subjects studied during the 10th standard or higher.

The local language of a Postal Circle or Division is as listed in Annexure-2. c) Computer proficiency.

d) A valid two-wheeler or Light Motor Vehicle license (Only applicable for the Postman position).

Persons with Benchmark Disabilities are exempted from the requirement of possessing a license.

Note 1: A candidate who does not have knowledge of the local language of the concerned Postal Circle or Division is still eligible for appointment.

However, such an individual must pass a local language test as determined by the respective Postal Circle after appointment. Passing this local language test is a prerequisite for the completion of probation.

Note 2: A candidate without a valid two-wheeler or Light Motor Vehicle license can still be appointed as a Postman. However, such a candidate,

without a valid license at the time of appointment, will not receive periodic increments in pay until they produce the required license or for a period of five years from the appointment date, whichever comes first. After producing the license or the expiry of the five-year period, pay will be retroactively adjusted to the

level it would have reached if the periodic increment had not been withheld. No arrears of pay will be provided for the intervening period.

(iii) For Multi Tasking Staff posts: a) Successful completion of the 10th standard from a recognized Board.

  1. Meritorious Sportsperson Criteria: A candidate will be considered a meritorious sportsperson for recruitment under this notification based on the following criteria: a) Sportspersons who have represented their State or the Country in

National or International competitions in any of the sports/games mentioned in paragraph 7 of this notification. b) Sportspersons who have represented their university in Inter-University Tournaments conducted by the Inter-University Sports Board in any of the sports/games mentioned in paragraph 7 of the notification. c)
  3. Sportspersons who have represented their State School teams in the National Sports/Games for schools conducted by the
  4. All India School Games Federation in any of the sports/games mentioned in paragraph 7 of the notification. d) Sportspersons who have been recipients of National Awards in Physical Efficiency under

11. Disqualification:

(A) No individual will be eligible for appointment under this notification if:

(a) They have entered into or contracted a marriage with a person who has a living spouse. (b) They, having a spouse with a living spouse, have entered into or contracted a marriage with any other person.

It should be noted that the Central Government may, under certain circumstances, exempt a person from these provisions if they are satisfied that such a marriage is permissible under the personal law applicable to the individual and the other party to the marriage, and there are other valid grounds for doing so.

(B) Disqualification may occur for the following reasons:

  • Misrepresentation of facts or information.
  • An incomplete application form.
  • Failure to pay the prescribed application fee.

No correspondence will be entertained in relation to such disqualifications.

(C) Submission of more than one application form by a single person will result in the cancellation of all such applications by that individual.

12. How to Apply:

a) Applications shall be submitted exclusively in online mode at “https://dopsportsrecruitment.cept.gov.in,” indicating the order of preference for both cadres (i.e., Postal Assistant, Sorting Assistant, Postman, Mail Guard, and Multi Tasking Staff) as well as Postal Circles.

b) Prior to submitting the application, candidates should thoroughly review the notification containing eligibility conditions and ensure that they fulfill all the necessary criteria for the desired post. Candidates are advised to diligently follow the ‘Instructions to Candidates’ available on the online application portal.

c) FORM 1/2/3/4/5 issued by authorities mentioned in para 8 of this notification is sufficient for considering the eligibility of an applicant, provided the candidate is otherwise eligible concerning age and educational qualifications relevant to the post. Candidates should only provide details of their highest participation/achievement in sports.

For instance, if a candidate has participated in both National and International events, they should submit details of all such International events for which they have a valid Form 1, without detailing all other achievements.

d) If the prescribed/required documents are not submitted along with the application, the application will be outright rejected, and requests for the submission of revised preferences, additional documents, or the revival of candidature will not be considered.

e) Before submitting the online application, candidates should utilize the Preview/Print option to ensure that they have entered correct details in each field of the form.

f) The closing date for the submission of the online application form is December 9, 2023.

g) After the closing date for the submission of the online application form, a special window of five (05) days will be provided to make corrections in the application form submitted by the candidate.

13. Application Fee:

a) Fee payable: Rs.100/- (Rupees one hundred only). b) Women candidates, transgender candidates, candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) are exempted from payment of the fee.

c) The fee can be paid online through UPI, Net Banking, Credit/Debit Cards, etc. d) Online fee payment can be made by candidates up to the closing date for the receipt of applications. e) Candidates who are not exempted from the payment of the fee must ensure that fee payment is successful.

Applications that remain incomplete due to non-payment of the fee will be summarily rejected, and no requests for consideration of such applications and fee payment after the closing date will be entertained.

f) The fee, once paid, shall not be refunded under any circumstances, nor will it be adjusted against any other purpose or other notification.

14. Window for Application Form Correction (December 10, 2023, to December 14, 2023):

a) After the closing date for the receipt of online applications, a period of five (05) days will be provided to candidates for correcting/modifying online application parameters, allowing candidates to resubmit applications after making the necessary corrections/changes.

b) Only candidates who have completed their online applications along with payment of the required fee, if applicable, within the specified period, will be allowed to make corrections in the application form.

c) A candidate will be allowed to correct and resubmit a modified/corrected application during the ‘Window for Application Form Correction.’

However, the candidate will not be allowed to withdraw the original application. In the event of not completing the process of modification/correction of the application, such an incomplete revised application will not be accepted, and the previously submitted application will remain valid.

d) A candidate who was exempted from the payment of the fee during the submission of the original application and, during the ‘Window for Application Form Correction,’ changes the gender/category that is not exempted from the fee, will be required to pay the necessary application fee, as per para 13 above.

The fee, once paid, will not be refunded under any circumstances or adjusted against any other examination or selection.

e) Before submitting the corrected application, candidates must check that they have entered correct details in each field of the form. After the expiry of the ‘Window for Application Form Correction,’ no change/correction/modification will be allowed under any circumstances. Requests received in this regard via any form, such as Post, Fax, Email, by hand, etc., will not be entertained and will be summarily rejected.

15. Candidates figuring in the provisional merit list shall have to produce the following documents in original at the time of verification:

a. Printout of the application form submitted. b. Valid documents relating to age, educational and other qualifications applicable for the post(s) applied for. c. Certificate of Knowledge of Computer. d. Form 1/2/3/4/5 (Refer para-8 above). e. Proof of date of birth (as submitted during online application). f. Candidates seeking age relaxation, fee exemption, driving license, etc., must submit the requisite certificate from the competent authority, in the prescribed format when such certificates are sought at the time of document verification.

Otherwise, their claim for SC/ST/EWS/PwBD category will not be entertained, and their candidature will be liable to be canceled. g.

The formats of the SC/ST/OBC/EWS certificates are annexed with the Notice of this Examination (Annexure – 4, 5, and 6). PwBD candidates shall submit a Certificate in the prescribed format for recruitment in Central Government from the competent Medical Authority. h.

Two (2) passport size color photographs identical to the one submitted online. i. If a candidate has changed his/her name or dropped/added part of his/her name after Matriculation/Higher Secondary/SSC, or he/she has changed his/her name after matriculation, etc., relevant legally valid documents.

16. Physical Verification of Documents of Candidates in the Provisional Merit List:

a) While submitting the online application form, each candidate shall choose a Postal Circle where he/she wants to go for physical verification of documents. Usually, such verification will take place at the Circle Office. b) No change in the Postal Circle selected for Physical verification will be permitted after the ‘Window for Application Form Correction’ is over. c) The candidate should bring the registered mobile number for receipt of OTP at the time of physical verification.
