The National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR) is seeking applications for various positions to support their research activities in Antarctica. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge polar research and experience the unique Antarctic environment.

• Operator Excavating Machine (Dozers, Excavators): 1 Post
• Crane Operator: 2 Posts
• Technical Assistant: 1 Post
• Male Nurse: 1 Post
• Radio/Wireless Operator: 2 Posts
• Chef / Cook: 2 Posts

Contract Duration:

The positions are for a fixed-term contract.

Salary Details:

• First-time Antarctica Deployment with NCPOR Contract: ₹56,283 per month (fixed)
• Prior Antarctica Deployment with NCPOR Contract: ₹75,044 per month (fixed)

Selection Process:

Selection will be based on a walk-in interview. Shortlisted candidates will be called for the interview on the specified date.

Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualification:

• Operator Excavating Machine (Dozers, Excavators):
  • Ex-servicemen/Ex-Para-military/Ex-Police Forces personnel: Minimum four years of experience in relevant trade as per service records.
  • Civilians:
    • ITI Certification (one-year course) in relevant trade with four years of relevant experience.
    • Diploma in Engineering in relevant field with three years of experience in the field.
• Crane Operator:
  • Ex-servicemen/Ex-Para-military/Ex-Police Forces personnel: Minimum five years of experience in operating hydraulic cranes (preferably >20 metric tons) as per service records.
  • Civilians:
    • Heavy Motor Vehicle License and experience operating hydraulic cranes (preferably >20 metric tons) for a minimum of five years.
• Technical Assistant:
  • ITI Certification (one-year course) in relevant trade (Vehicle Mechanic, Vehicle Electrician, Diesel/Generator Mechanic, Welder, Station Electrician) with four years of experience.
  • Diploma in Engineering in relevant field with three years of experience in any of the mentioned trades.
  • Alternatively, experience in operating excavator or crane machines (as per qualifications mentioned in Sr. No. 1 & 2) can be considered.
• Male Nurse:
  • Diploma in General Nursing with three years of experience.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing with two years of experience.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in operation theatre/ICU.
• Radio/Wireless Operator:
  • Ex-servicemen/Ex-Para-military/Ex-Police Forces personnel: Minimum four years of experience in operating radio communication (HF/VHF) devices as per service records.
  • Civilians:
    • Minimum 12th Standard pass with General Operator Certificate (GOC) for operating the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) and four years of experience in operating radio communication (HF/VHF) devices.
    • Diploma in Engineering (Electronics) with three years of experience in radio communication (HF/VHF) devices.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with Ham Radio License or Marine Radio Operator Permit and working knowledge of English.
• Chef / Cook:
  • Diploma in Hotel Management and Catering Technology or Culinary Art from a recognized Indian University/Institute with three years of experience.
  • Degree in Hotel Management and Catering Technology or Culinary Art from a recognized Indian University/Institute with two years of experience.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in a registered firm/airlines/hotel/food chain and the ability to handle meals for 80-100 people daily.
