The Ministry of Education has approved faculty positions under the 4-Tier flexible faculty structure at IIITDM Kancheepuram. There are currently 39 vacancies available across various departments and schools as part of this flexible faculty structure.

Below, you will find the details of the positions available in different departments and schools:

• Associate Professor: Computer Science and Engineering (CS), Electronics and Communication Engineering (EC), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Mathematics (MA), Physics (PH)
• Assistant Professor Grade-I: Computer Science and Engineering (CS), Electronics and Communication Engineering (EC), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Mathematics (MA), School of Interdisciplinary Design and Innovation (SIDI)

Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualifications:

1. Professor:

• Essential Qualification: Ph.D.
  • Relevant Experience: 3 years after Ph.D. or 6 years in total (excluding Ph.D. enrollment period) after obtaining M. Tech./M.E./M.Des. degree.
  • Other Essential Requirements:

• 2 papers in SCI Journals outside Ph.D. work.One ongoing sponsored project for candidates from academia.Two experiments or computational projects added to teaching laboratories where appropriate.

• Additional Desirable Requirements:

• One ongoing Ph.D. supervision.1 patent.Experience in industry or reputable R&D lab.Supervision of M.Tech., M.Des., M.Sc., or B.Tech., B.Des. projects related to live industrial problems.

• Associate Professor:

• Essential Qualification: Ph.D.
  • Relevant Experience:

• 6 years after Ph.D. or 9 years in total (excluding Ph.D. enrollment period), with at least 3 years after Ph.D.Three years at the level of Assistant Professor with AGP of Rs.8000 or its equivalent in 7th CPC at a reputed university, R&D Lab, or relevant industry.

• Other Essential Requirements:

• 4 papers in SCI journals after Ph.D.One Ph.D. guided as sole or principal supervisor plus one continuing.Two ongoing projects or one ongoing plus one completed project.Two experiments or computational projects added to teaching laboratories where appropriate.Academic outreach activity equivalent to two self-financed short-term courses.

• Additional Desirable Requirements:

• 1 or more patents.Supervising two or more students for Ph.D.Strong industry liaison.Offering courses using ICT.

• Assistant Professor Grade-I:

• Essential Qualification: Ph.D.
  • Relevant Experience:

• 10 years after Ph.D. or 13 years in total (excluding Ph.D. enrollment period), with at least 7 years after Ph.D.At least four years at the Associate Professor level with AGP of Rs. 9500/level 13A2 in a reputable institute.

• Other Essential Requirements:

• Two Ph.D. degrees guided as sole or principal supervisor.Specific requirements in the past four years, including papers in SCI Journals, high-value sponsored or consultancy projects, academic outreach activity, and experiments or computational design projects.

• Additional Desirable Requirements:

• One or more patents.Supervised more than three students for Ph.D.Preparing E-Learning material.Offering at least one self-financed short-term course annually.Strong industry liaison.Significant support to institute management.High-value sponsored or consultancy projects.

Eligible Degrees and Research Areas:

Computer Science and Engineering:

• B.E./B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering/Information Technology/Artificial Intelligence/Data Science/Cyber Security/Electronics and Communication Engineering or related degrees.
• M.E./M.Tech./M.Des. in relevant fields.
• Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering or related topics.
• Research Areas: Combinatorial optimization, Heuristics, Computer vision, Software engineering, Reinforcement learning, Image processing, Social media analytics.

Electronics and Communication Engineering:

• Relevant B.E./B.Tech.
• M.E./M.Tech./M.Des. in relevant fields.
• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering/Electronics Engineering/Electronics and Communication Engineering.
• Research Areas: Communication Engineering (IoT/WSN, Wireless, RF & Microwave, 5G/6G technologies, MIMO radar, Photonics, Signal processing, Networks), Electronics Engineering (VLSI Circuit design, SoC design, VLSI testing & verification, Quantum computing, Medical electronics, Optical instrumentation), Electrical drives.

Mechanical Engineering:

• Relevant B.E./B.Tech.
• M.E./M.Tech./M.Des. in relevant fields.
• Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or AI & Robotics.
• Research Areas: Experimental/Computational heat and mass transfer, Smart materials and structures, Fracture and impact of composites, Sustainable manufacturing, Data science in Industrial engineering, Mechatronics and Robotics.

School of Interdisciplinary Design and Innovation:

• B.Des., M.Des., and Ph.D. in Design or engineering graduates with experience in Product Design & Development.
• Research Areas: Aesthetics, Form and Sketching, CAD and digital sketching/modeling, Human Factors and Ergonomics, Visual communication, Interaction design, Graphic design, Kinetic art, CAE in product design.

Mathematics:

• Bachelor and Master Degree in Mathematics/Statistics/Applied Mathematics/Industrial Mathematics & Scientific Computing.
• Ph.D. in Mathematics/Statistics or related areas.
• Research Areas: Combinatorics, Probability theory, Differential Equations, Real/Complex Analysis, Algebra, Number Theory, Numerical methods, and relevant areas, Algorithmic graph theory.

Physics:

• B.Sc. and M.Sc./M.Sc. (Tech)/B.Tech. in relevant fields.
• Ph.D. in Physics or related areas.
• Research Area: Raman Spectroscopy, Nuclear Physics.

Age Limit:

1. Professor: 50 Years
2. Associate Professor: 45 Years
3. Assistant Professor Grade-I: 40 Years

• Age relaxation is possible for exceptional candidates at the discretion of the scrutiny committee with the approval of the Director.

Salary Details:

1. Professor: Rs. 1,01,500-1,67,400/-
2. Associate Professor: Rs. 1,39,600-2,11,300/-
3. Assistant Professor Grade-I: Rs. 1,59,100-2,20,200/-

Selection Process:

The selection process involves two phases. In the first phase, shortlisted candidates must present on teaching and research in their specialization. The second phase includes an interview by the Selection Committee. Only candidates recommended in the first phase will be eligible for the second phase.

The date and time of the Presentation/Interview will be communicated through the Institute’s website or email. The Institute will not be responsible for non-receipt of emails by the candidates.
