The South Eastern Railway (SER) is proud to announce a recruitment drive seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join their team under the Scouts & Guides Quota! This is an excellent opportunity for those with a strong commitment to Scouting and Guiding principles to contribute their skills and experience to the railways while pursuing a fulfilling career.

Vacancies Available:

The SER is offering a total of 10 positions across two grade pay categories:

• 2 Posts: Grade Pay Rs. 1900/-
• 8 Posts: Grade Pay Rs. 1800/-

Eligibility Criteria:

To be considered for these positions, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Educational Qualifications:

• Grade Pay Rs. 1900: Minimum qualification of 12th (+2 stage) or its equivalent with at least 50% marks in aggregate (relaxation for SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen and candidates with higher qualifications). Alternatively, a pass in Matriculation with an ITI certificate for technical positions.
• Grade Pay Rs. 1800:
  • Option 1: 10th pass from a recognized board with National Apprenticeship certificate granted by NCVT or 10th pass with ITI for Civil Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, S&T, and Catering departments.
  • Option 2: 10th pass, ITI, or equivalent for other departments.

Scouting/Guiding Qualifications:

This is a crucial aspect of eligibility. You must possess one or more of the following Scouting/Guiding qualifications:

• President Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger OR Himalayan Wood Badge (HWB) holder in any section.
• Provisional Certificates: Candidates with provisional certificates for President Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger or HWB may be allowed to participate in the selection process, but their appointment will be subject to fulfilling specific criteria as per RRCB Circular No. 1/2000.
• Active Participation: You must have been an active member of a Scouts/Guides organization for the last five years and possess a valid “Certificate of Activeness” as per Annexure-II.
• Event Participation: You should have participated in Scouting/Guiding events as documented in Annexure-VII. The minimum requirement is attending:
  • At least two events at the National level OR All Indian Railways’ level.
  • Two events at the State level.

Age Limit:

• Grade Pay Rs. 1900: 18-30 years old (as of August 19th, 2024).
• Grade Pay Rs. 1800: 18-33 years old (as of August 19th, 2024).

Relaxation in Age Limit:

The SER offers age relaxation for certain categories:

• SC/ST Candidates: 5 years
• OBC Candidates: 3 years
• PwBD (Gen/ EWS) Candidates: 10 years
• PwBD (SC/ ST) Candidates: 15 years
• PwBD (OBC) Candidates: 13 years
• Ex-Servicemen Candidates: As per Government Policy

Selection Process:

The SER may employ a two-stage selection process:

1. Written Test: This will assess your general knowledge and aptitude.
2. Marks on Scouting & Guides Activities Certificates: Your involvement and achievements within Scouting/Guiding will be evaluated based on certificates submitted.

Application Fee and Payment Mode:

The application fee varies based on your category:

• General/OBC Candidates: Rs. 500/-
• SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/PwBDs/Women/Minorities/EBC: Rs. 250/-

The fee must be paid through a Bank Draft/IPO issued in favor of FA&CAO, South Eastern Railway, Garden Reach – 700043, payable at GPO/Kolkata.
